In view of the upcoming festive season, Uttar Pradesh Government is going to launch Special Campaign for Focused Group COVID Testing from today to break the chain of Corona infection. The campaign will continue for the next 16 days in state.
The State Government is regularly appealing people to maintain social distancing and follow the COVID protocol. AIR correspondent reports that these tests are going to be conducted on those persons who will come in contact with the general public during the upcoming festive Season. Karva Chauth and Diwali are two major festivals which attract a large number of people to the market and other places.
Today on the first day of the campaign, auto drivers and rickshaw drivers will be tested. In the same manner, other groups like workers at Mehandi shop, beauty parlours, malls, electronic shops and places of worship will be tested in coming days. Meanwhile, the recovery rate from Corona virus infection in the state has further increased to more than 93 per cent which is higher than the national average.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said that the number of Corona infected patients in the state are decreasing day by day after the state witnessed its peak on 17th of September. With 2,049 active cases in last 24 hours, the state currently has 25,478 active patients.
