The Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh is all set to be opened for the public soon. PM Modi will inaugurate the 340-km Purvanchal Expressway on November 16. The Expressway will connect eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. The project has cost around Rs. 22,494.66 crore (Including the cost of land) and is completed in a record time.
The Expressway starts from Chand Sarai village in Lucknow and the ending point is near village Haidaria on National Highway No -19. It will pass through Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Amethi, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau, and Ghazipur areas. The proposed Purvanchal Expressway is connected with the existing Agra-Lucknow Expressway that will become a vast Industrial Corridor connecting the Eastern boundary to the Western boundary of the state resulting in the overall development of the state.
India’s Capital, Delhi will be connected via the Expressway, to several major towns and cities of Uttar Pradesh, from Noida in the west, to Ghazipur in the east.
Despite the pandemic, the state government has given top priority to building greenfield expressways and highways over the expansion of existing highways to accelerate high-quality road development in the state.
Project benefits:
The foundation stone for the 340 km long expressway was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this expressway will transform Purvanchal and will boost tourism and employment opportunities.
The six-lane carriageway will serve in decongesting the entire city and ensure smooth traffic flow. Being an access-controlled expressway, it would bring several benefits like fuel-saving, time-saving, and control in Pollution levels, along with a reduction in accidents. The areas covered by this Expressway would provide a benefit in a social & economical way. Agriculture, commerce, tourism, and other industrial development will also get a fillip.
Various Institutes to be set up:
Industrial training institutes, educational institutes, medical institutes, new townships, and other commercial places will be developed, particularly in Expressway areas, resulting in more job opportunities in the region. The Government is also working on two other expressways — 296-km-long Bundelkhand Expressway and 594-km-long Ganga Expressway.
Bundelkhand Expressway
The 296 Km long Bundelkhand Expressway begins near Bharatkoop at Jhansi-Prayagraj National Highway Number-35 in district Chitrakoot and ends near village Kudrail in district Etawah on Agra-Lucknow expressway.
This expressway will be of four lanes, expandable up to six lanes. The width of the Right Of Way(ROW ) of the project is 110 Meters; a service road of 3.75 M width will be constructed at one side of the expressway in a staggered form so that villages falling nearby of the project can avail a smooth transportation facility.
Benefits from Project:-
With the construction of the expressway, the area of Bundelkhand will be linked with a fast and smooth traffic corridor through the Agra-Lucknow expressway and Yamuna expressway.
The major goal is to enhance the development of this area. As the expressway is access controlled, important savings in consumption of fuel and control over pollution will also be possible.
This Expressway will act as a catalyst for the establishment of the Handloom industry, food processing units, storage, market, and Milk-based industries.
Ganga Expressway:
594 km Ganga Expressway project is a six-lane access-controlled road that will start from N.H. 334, in district Meerut and ending in district Prayagraj.
Districts that benefited from the project will be:- Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahar, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rai Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj.
