amsung is teasing the launch of a brand new Exynos processor. The company has not revealed anything specific yet, but we expect the announcement to take place during the Samsung Tech Day 2019 conference on October 23. The new Exynos chipset being teased by Samsung could be for mid-range smartphones as the company is unlikely to announce its next flagship processor so soon.
Samsung Exynos’ Twitter account posted a teaser video suggesting high performance capabilities with the new Exynos chipset. The company is also teasing artificial intelligence, so the Exynos SoC may come with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) as seen on the flagship Exynos 9825 and 9820.
According to rumours a few months ago, Samsung has been testing the Exynos 9630 SoC, which is a mid-range chipset that will likely power a few Galaxy A series phones in 2020. Beyond this, nothing much is known about the Exynos 9630 as of now.
We might not have to guess for too long. Samsung will likely announce the new Exynos processor in just a few hours from now at Samsung Tech Day 2019. The keynote will begin at 10AM PT (11:30PM IST). Samsung will also hold sessions for 5G, GPU and AI today.
Samsung recently announced the Exynos 980 mobile processor, which is the company’s first SoC with an integrated 5G modem. Exynos 980 is expected to power premium mid-range phones in 2020 as Samsung aims to make 5G more accessible to a wider audience.
