Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari today chaired the third BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Nagpur, Maharashtra. While interacting with media post-meeting,Mr Gadkari said that delegates discussed the efforts to make carbon-neutral transport in road, rail, aviation and waterways transport by adopting alternative biofuels and pollution-free technologies.He said, the latest technologies and innovations are being shared among the BRICS member countries to strengthen cooperation for a more connected, resilient and sustainable Transport sector and the BRICS ministerial Declaration 2026 has also been adopted during this meeting for strengthening this cooperation among BRICS countries.The transport ministers of Brazil, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Ethiopia and the UAE also presented their statements during this meeting. The two-day meeting held in Nagpur during 11 and 12 July is being organised under India’s BRICS Chairship theme – “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.The meeting follows the conclusion of the BRICS Transport Working Group meeting, where delegates from member countries deliberated on a common transport agenda. Following the earlier meetings hosted by Russia and Brazil, the gathering in Nagpur aims to further strengthen international cooperation in the transport sector.
