Apple has long been said to be working on Tile-like trackers called AirTag. While the company hasn’t launched the Bluetooth tracker yet, word is that Samsung is planning to tread a similar path.
As per a report by Sam Mobile, Samsung is working on a Tile-like tracker called Galaxy Smart Tag. This new device with model number EI-T5300 has been certified by the Indonesian Telecom Certification. While the listing on the certification site doesn’t reveal anything about the company’s upcoming device, it is expected to be a soul-successor to the company’s LTE-enabled tracker that was launched under its SmartThings branding almost two years back.
To give you a quick recap, the GPS tracker that was launched almost two years back could easily be attached to anything such as a pet, keys or a laptop bag. It could track the location of the attached item in real-time via the company’s SmartThings app.
Now, it looks like Samsung is planning to launch a successor to its two-year-old tracking device. The report notes that while most tracking devices come with Bluetooth functionality, Samsung’s upcoming tracker could come with additional features such as Ultra-wideband, LTE and GPS among others.
That said, Samsung hasn’t commented on the matter yet. So, all we can do for now is wait and speculate.
