Bangladesh police have arrested 43 people involved in the attack on Hindu houses and for vandalising temples in Cumilla town of the country on Wednesday. The police have also arrested the person who allegedly first put the video of desecration of the Holy Quran on the social media. The police is questioning a person named Fayez Uddin for his role in putting the inflammatory post on the social media, reports the local media. The police is on the lookout for other persons who are involved in the incidence of violence in Cumilla town on Wednesday.
In order to contain incidents of violence reported from several places in Bangladesh, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in 22 districts of the country following attack on Hindu temple and houses. The attacks followed an incident in which Holy Quran was reportedly desecrated inside a temple by some miscreants in Cumilla town on Wednesday. Following the incident several temples in the Cumilla town and in a number of other towns were vandalised.
BGB personnel have been deployed in the districts on the request of the local administration and on the instructions of the home ministry.
Home Minister Asadazzuman Khan told media on Thursday that the people involved in the incident have been identified and they will be arrested without any delay.
