Uttar Pradesh government will celebrate the annual Deepotsav in Ayodhya on Diwali in a grand manner and this time it is planning to break its own last year record by lighting around 6 lakh diyas, earthen lamps on the ghats of Saryu. The celebration will not be scaled down due to the coronavirus pandemic, even though there will be minimal public participation.
The deepotsav will be celebrated from 11 to 13 november and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also take part in it. Around 10 thousand volunteers of Ram Manohar Lohiya Swasth University will be involved in the attempt of another world record of lighting 6 lakh earthen lamps. These diyaas will be lit on 24 Ghats of holy river Saryu.
The order of such a large number of earthen lamps has Potter Families in Shishya are also happy with numbers since a large part of the earthen lamps are purchased from.them under national livelihood mission. This is also the first Deepotsav after the start of Ram temple construction in Ayodhya.
Tourism Minister of state Neelkanth Tiwari said that all protocols related to social distancing in view of Covid Pandemic will be followed during deepotsav.
