The Uttar Pradesh government has fixed the stock limit of onion in the state to stop further increase of the price and to ensure availability of onion to the public.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked to curb the stock holding and take strict action against the defaulters.
AIR correspondent reports, as per the government’s order the retail supplier of onion can hold a maximum of 2 metric ton onion while the wholesale supplier can hold maximum of 25 metric ton onion.
This limit will continue till the end of December this year.
Only the exporters has been given relaxation under this rule. Government is very soon going to issue the notification regarding this.
A tweet by the Chief Minister’s office said that Central governments has already missed an advisory on the issue on 23rd of October.
Before enforcing the stock limit, the suppliers will be given 3 day time.
They have to complete the packing and other related work in this period and after that the limit of stock will apply.
The action has been taken after witnessing a surge in the prices of onion in many parts of state.
