Defence Minister Highlights India’s Significant Progress, Says Defence Exports Record Over ₹38,000 Crore

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today highlighted India’s significant progress in manufacturing and technology, saying the country’s defence exports have reached a record of over 38 thousand crore rupees. Addressing an event organised by a private media organisation in New Delhi, Mr Singh said, the sharp rise from 686 crore rupees in the financial year 2013-14 reflects an almost 57-fold increase and underlines growing global confidence in Make in India defence platforms.The Defence Minister said annual defence production has also touched an all-time high of over one lakh 78 thousand crore rupees in the financial year 2025-26, nearly three times the level recorded in 2014-15. Highlighting India’s broader manufacturing achievements, Mr Singh cited the expansion of mobile phone manufacturing, growth in automobile exports, indigenous locomotive production, and the strengthening of digital infrastructure under the Make in India initiative.Speaking about the country’s progress over the past decade, Mr Singh said, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has addressed shortages, expanded opportunities, and transformed the work culture. He said, the government is laying a strong foundation for Viksit Bharat through the policy of Reform, Perform, Transform and expressed confidence that the world will witness the rise of a developed India. Referring to the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Singh said, the government’s sustained efforts to eliminate Naxalism are examples of its resolve to address challenges that were once considered beyond resolution.
