Union Home Minister Amit Shah talked to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal over phone this evening and took stock of the present situation at Assam-Mizoram border. He enquired about the steps taken by the State Government to defuse tension at the border and said that the Home Ministry has initiated steps for maintaining peace at the Assam-Mizoram border.
Mr. Sonowal apprised the Union Home Minister of the steps taken by Assam Government for normalizing situation at the border. He informed that senior level government official’s discussion to address the border issue has already begun.
The Chief Minister also informed the Home Minister that Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga during a telephonic talk earlier assured him to take positive steps for bolstering peace at the border and strengthening brotherhood among the people of both the states.
