Power Roll, a UK-based company has roped in India for the manufacturing and marketing of its solar films. The company has developed a solar film that is 25 times lighter and cheaper than solar panels.
The solar film as claimed by the Power Roll is unique, low-cost, and lightweight in nature, The company is also expanding into the Indian market with Thermax Group as its market development and manufacturing partner.
India is a rising star in the field of green energy. It has become a new hub for investment in renewable energy. India has registered exponential growth in the renewable energy sector in the past five years due to conductive policy, capital flow, falling prices, and new technologies.
Moreover, India along with France led the International Solar Alliance to promote solar energy in 121 tropical countries.

Thermax would also have the licence to manufacture and sell Power Roll’s solar films in India.

According to the claims made by the company, the company’s solar film will deliver the lowest levelised cost of electricity for any solar technology, is 25 times lighter than silicon PV, and has a carbon footprint that is 20 times lower.
Power Roll’s technology simplifies manufacturing by using high-speed roll-to-roll production processes that eliminate many costly processes.

The fact that an Indian company was chosen for the manufacturing and marketing of a product, means that the company saw India as a potential player and market to expand and grow. This also signifies how India has scope for Power Roll’s technological advancement.
