Save the Elephant Day is being celebrated on April 16 of every year to raise awareness about the dangers elephants face and various difficulties they have to overcome to live.
A Report:
Save the Elephant Day is established by the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation, in Thailand. By spreading awareness the general people can understand the significance and consequences of their actions, or inactions on the future of elephants. At present the population of pachyderms in our country according to WWF is around 20,000 to 25,000.
Elephants are the wildlife idols and the sad thing is that these lovely giants are in great crisis. Save the Elephants Day is the best opportunity to show our care and love for these wildlife icons and spread awareness about the threats to their future in Asia and Africa, ranging from ivory traders and loss of habitat.
