Indian railways are expanding the oxygen express to Haryana and Telangana. The initiative has already supplied life-saving gas to Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. Cumulative liquid medical oxygen (LMO) supply by Indian Railways is expected to reach 640 MT by 30 April 2021.
Oxygen express to cater Haryana and Telangana
The first oxygen express for Haryana with two tankers is expected to leave Angul (Orissa) on 29 April 2021. Continuous supply of oxygen through oxygen Express will ensure oxygen replenishment to the Covid-19 patients in Haryana. Further, an empty rake from Faridabad to Rourkela will complete its journey by 29 April 2021.
The Telangana government has requested Indian Railways for oxygen express. For the same, an empty rake will reach Angul from Secunderabad on 30 April 2021. The rake consists of five empty tankers that will come back to Telangana with Liquid Medical Oxygen. This step will ensure an uninterrupted supply of oxygen in the state.

Uttar Pradesh receives 76.29 MT of liquid medical oxygen
On 29 April 2021 oxygen express no. 5 delivered 76.29 MT liquid medical oxygen in Uttar Pradesh. The express was loaded with 5 tankers, one was offloaded in Varanasi while the other four were offloaded in Lucknow.
The next oxygen express is already on the way and will reach Lucknow on 30 April 2021 with 33.18 MT of LMO
Indian Railways is ensuring smooth transitions of oxygen expresses across India for which route mapping is taking care of for maximum clearances available along the route.
