India has handed over Pakistan the first official list of 480 people interested in visiting the Sikh shrine in Pakistan on 9th November.
Briefing media on the preparations of the inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor between India and Pakistan, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, New Delhi has not received any response from Islamabad regarding the approval of the list. He said, issue of raising the daily limit of pilgrimages has been raised before Pakistan.
Regarding the visit of members of the European Parliament in Jammu and Kashmir, he said, it is the mandate of the government to get engaged with the people of the other countries to maintain the strong relationship. He said, the visit was part of people to people contact programme and more such delegations shall be allowed on the basis of intent, context and the ground situation in future. He further said, the objective of the visit was to understand the issue of terrorism and its impact on India. He clarified that the government’s intention was not to internationalize the Kashmir issue but it was the part of the engagement with people of other countries to share our perspectives.
