The High Commission of India in Dhaka has taken up the case for the entry of the Indian medical students who are scheduled to appear for their MBBS final professional examination in Bangladesh in June.
The High Commission has written to the medical colleges in Bangladesh to forward a list of such students to facilitate their entry into the country.
The students have also been asked to get in touch with their colleges in this regard.
Earlier, many of the MBBS students had written to the High Commission seeking help to return to Bangladesh to appear for their final exams.
The High Commission held discussions with the Bangladesh authorities who consented to allow reentry for only those students who are scheduled to take the final professional MBBS examination.
The entry of such eligible final year students in Bangladesh will be subject to submission of relevant documents before the nearest Bangladesh High Commission or its branches in India and subsequent permission from the government of Bangladesh.
The exams were scheduled to be held in November 2020 but they have been rescheduled now for June 2021.
The travel between Bangladesh and India is currently disrupted as both air travel and land border crossing have been suspended due to the COVID pandemic.
