India, America joins hand to coordinate stability in Afghanistan

India and the US will join their efforts to stabilize Afghanistan. In a recent development, US State Department spokesperson Ned Price said that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his USA counterpart Anthony Blinken had agreed on joining hands to promote stability in Afghanistan.

Ned Price mentioned the recent conversation of Blinken with Jaishankar that focused to strengthen the importance of US-India relations and cooperation on regional security issues.

“Had a warm and productive conversation with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar to reaffirm the importance of the US-India relationship. We discussed regional security issues of mutual concern in Afghanistan and Burma and global challenges such as climate change,” Blinken said in a tweet.

State Department spokesperson added the two leaders agreed on close and frequent coordination in support of a lasting peace and development for the people of Afghanistan.

Biden and NATO to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan

On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden announced that all American troops would be withdrawn from Afghanistan by September 11 2021 to end the country’s longest war.

Joe Biden said his administration will ask other countries in the region to do more to support Afghanistan, especially Pakistan, as well as Russia, China, India, and Turkey. “They all have a significant stake in the stable future for Afghanistan,” Biden said.

“We will not conduct a hasty rush to the exit. We’ll do it responsibly, deliberately, and safely. And we will do it in full coordination with our allies and partners, who now have more forces in Afghanistan than we do,” He added.

Following suit, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) also announced that it will also pull out its troops from Afghanistan as well.

Experts views on Biden’s call

However, after the withdrawal of the US and NATO troops from Afghanistan experts speculated that India will have a tremendous concern about the resurgence of the Taliban and the war-torn country being used as a safe haven for terrorists.

But the recent developments between India and the US can be termed as good news. Other issues discussed between the two leaders include the restoration of democracy in Myanmar, recent developments in the newly expanded India region, health cooperation, UNSC agenda, Covid-19 and climate change, at which President Joe Biden convened an international conference scheduled for 22-23 April, 21.

PM Narendra Modi will also participate in the 1st session of the Leaders’ Summit on Climate tomorrow at the invitation of the US President.
