IMD predicts heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for moderate to heavy rainfall in New Delhi today. Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, IMD senior scientist Dr R K Jenamani has said that the Himalayan states, mainly Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir, will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours. IMD further issued a red alert for rainfall in Punjab today. Dr. Jenamani added that in eastern India, Odisha and Chhattisgarh are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall throughout the day.

Meanwhile, due to rising water levels in the Yamuna, the Delhi Traffic police has issued a travel advisory that the Old Iron Bridge will remain closed for traffic and public movement till further orders or until 04:00 PM today. The traffic police also advised people to use public transport and plan travel with sufficient time.
