Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Semicon India – 2025 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. Aimed at catalysing India’s Semiconductor ecosystem, the three-day Conference will focus on advancing a robust, resilient, and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem in the country. It will feature sessions on the progress of the Semicon India Programme, smart manufacturing, innovations in Research and Development and artificial intelligence, investment opportunities, state-level policy implementation, among others.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said that since the launch of the India Semiconductor Mission, the world is looking towards India with full confidence. He informed that the construction of five semiconductor units is going on at a rapid pace in the country. He also presented the first “Made in India chip” to the Prime Minister. He added that two more such manufacturing units will start production in a few months.

Inaugurating Semicon India 2025 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi today, Mr. Modi said the day is not far when India’s smallest chip will drive the biggest change in the world. The Prime Minister remarked that while oil was once called black gold, chips are the new digital diamonds. He said, oil shaped the last century, but in the 21st century, power lies within these tiny chips. He said they hold the potential to accelerate global progress.
