Filing of nominations for elections in Maharashtra, Haryana to begin today

The process of filing nomination papers for Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections will kick start today with the issuance of notification. The last date for filing of nomination is 4th October. The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done on 5th October. The commission has set 7th October as the deadline for candidates to withdraw nominations.

Polling for the 288 seats in Maharashtra and 90 seats in Haryana will be held on 21st October while the counting will take place on 24th October.

The five-year term of the legislative assembly of Haryana will expire on 2nd November and Maharashtra on the 9th November. Maharashtra has 8.9 crore electorate while Haryana has 1.82 crore voters.
