World’s Largest Railway Station Redevelopment Programme Being Undertaken In Country: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the world’s largest railway station redevelopment programme is being undertaken in the country, benefiting one thousand 324 stations. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha today, Mr Vaishnaw said, some of the stations will be landmarks. Informing about the allocations to the railways sector, he said, the Government has increased allocation to railways nine times as compared to the UPA era.

The Minister said, today the new tracks are being laid at the speed of 167 kilometres per year as against 60 kilometres per year during UPA regime. He said, 12 thousand Road Over Bridges ROBs and Road Under Bridges RUBs were built in the last 10 years as against four thousand ROB and RUBs during the Congress led UPA Government. Mr Vaishnaw informed the House that the masterplan is getting ready for big cities in the country to plan traffic management for the next 50 years.
