Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath urges people to celebrate Diwali with strict adherence to social distancing norms

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged the people of the state to celebrate Diwali with strict adherence to social distancing norms. He asked the people to pledge to observe ‘do gaj ki doori, mask hai zaroori’ during this Diwali. He was speaking at the grand Diwali celebrations DEEPOTSAV in Ayodhya yesterday. The  Chief Minister said that just as Lord Ram overcame all obstacles and returned to Ayodhya, India too will overcome the obstacles of the Covid-19 pandemic and march towards new glory. He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country and its people have not only survived the pandemic, but are on the road to recovery. The state government created a world record by lighting more than 5 lakh 51 thousand earthen lamps or diyas at the ghats of Saryu River in Ayodhya.

Ayodhya city brightened up with the largest ever display of 6 lakh 6 thousand 5 hundred 69 diyas or earthen lamps and created a world record yesterday evening. Thousands of volunteers lit the lamps along  the bank of Saryu River through lanes of the city and at houses. The whole city was illuminated with the lights and colorful decorations on the theme of Ramayana. Representatives of Guinness book of world records were also present virtually and handed over the certificate to the government. Government broke its own record of lighting more than 4 lakh diyas last year on the same occasion. This was the 4th Deepotsav in a row at Ayodhya after Yogi Adityanath came into power but first since the verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute came and the work for the grand temple at ram Janm bhumi has started. State government has made the arrangements for every ram bhakts virtual participation in this event by launching a dedicated website virtualdeepotsav.com.
