Union Minister Amit Shah & Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to inaugurate construction work of temple dedicated to Goddess Sita at Punaura Dham, Bihar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will today inaugurate the construction work of a grand temple dedicated to Goddess Sita at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district of Bihar.

The foundation stone laying ceremony and Bhoomi Pujan for the grand temple will take place this afternoon amidst chanting of Vedic mantras. On this occasion, the Union Home Minister will also address a public gathering. The foundation stone will be laid under the supervision of scholars and purohits from Banaras and Mithila. An estimated 883 crore rupees will be spent on the temple and its surrounding complex.

The Bihar government has decided to acquire 50 acres of land for the construction of the new temple, modeled on the Lord Ram Temple in Ayodhya. For the management of the entire temple, a trust named Shri Janaki Janmabhoomi Punaura Dham Mandir Nyas Samiti has been formed, like the Lord Ram Ayodhya temple trust.

The Union Home Minister will also flag off Sitamarhi-New Delhi Amrit Bharat Express train via video conferencing from Sitamarhi. This will provide a direct rail link between New Delhi and Sitamarhi via several important places of Bihar. Saints and seers from across the country including from Ayodhya, Kashi, Janakpur, and South India have arrived to participate in today’s event.

There is an atmosphere of excitement and celebration in Sitamarhi, Janakpur, and the entire Mithilanchal region. The Punaura Dham temple has been beautifully decorated with flowers. For the Bhoomi Pujan, soil from 21 pilgrimage sites and water from 31 rivers have been brought. Laddoos prepared at the Mahavir Temple in Patna will also be distributed.
