The Chennai Corporation has hinted that the iconic Marina Beach in the city may be opened for the public by next month. The Commissioner of the city civic body G. Prakash told the Madras High Court that only the state government could take a decision on it.
However, appearing through video-conferencing before the division bench hearing cases on the development of the beach, he said, there is the possibility of getting it opened by the first week of November. When asked about reports of encroachments in the world famous beach, he said they have already been cleared. The case has been posted for further hearing on November 11th.
