Tamil Nadu Government regulates the treatment cost for COVID19 pandemic in private hospitals.

A panel headed by TN Health Secretary Dr Beela Rajesh submitted a report to the government on the estimated rates for private hospitals to charge the patients for treating COVID19 patients.

The maximum amount payable for treatment in general ward is 5000 per day for patients with mild symptoms and asymptomatic in general wards. For treatment in ICU with all facilities cost ranges between Rs 9000 – 15000 per day says Dr Vijayabaskar, Health Minister Tamil Nadu Government. 

Further, the TN government has also announced that people who are enrolled and eligible under the Chief Minister’s comprehensive health insurance scheme can avail the treatment.

The Government of India had already announced that the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana scheme can be availed for the treatment in private hospitals. Now that the new regulations are in place, we can expect people to go to private hospitals without the fear of bankruptcy.
