Sabarimala revenue collection falls to Rs 4.07 cr

Sabarimala: The revenue collection in the Lord Ayappa temple here has marked a fall compared to previous years. Rs 4.07 crore was collected in the temple in the past 23 days from the commencement of the Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season. It is examined that, it is not even the 5 percent of the income recorded last year after 23 days.

Till Tuesday, Sabarimala temple has collected Rs 4,07,36, 383 crore as revenue. This income was generated from offerings and sale of Appam and Aravana. In 2019, the temple had recorded a revenue of Rs 82,70,00,000 cr within 23 days of the pilgrimage season.

From November 16 to December 8, around 34,000 devotees visited the temple during this season.

1000 people each visited the temple from Monday to Friday and 2,000 each on Saturday and Sunday till December 2.

From December 3 onwards, the authority has permitted to allow 2000 devotees from Monday to Friday and 3000 devotees on Saturday and Sunday.

Travancore Devaswom President N Vasu informed that the number of devotees allowed per day will be increased after examining the COVID situation. A review meeting will be held after December 15 to decide on the same.

At the same time, the TDB is facing a crisis as 17 people at Sannidanam tested COVID-19 positive within the last 4 days.
