Chandran Unnithan (55), a Sabarimala Karma Samithi activist, died after being admitted in critical care at a private hospital in Thiruvalla. He was gravely injured in the protests at Panthalam.
Protests against entry of women at Sabarimala turned violent after CPM and right wing protestors clashed in front of CPM area committee office. Stones were pelted and the deceased Chandran was injured.
Chandran was taken to a private hospital in Panthalam and was then taken to another hospital in Thiruvalla where he breathed his last. Several policemen were injured in the protest. Karma Samithi activists alleged that the fights started when CPM activists pelted stones at them. Two people have been arrested in relation with this incident. Karma Samithi activists blocked road at Panthalam demanding the arrest of all aggressors.
Vijayamma is the wife of Chandran Unnithan. Daughter: Akhila Son in Law: Ayyappan.
Chandran underwent surgery for heart related disease a year back. He was working as a salesman at a bakery food manufacturing company.
