Security forces have trapped top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad in the ongoing encounter in Pulwama. He is said to be the mastermind of the Pulwama fidayeen attack which killed 44 CRPF men. Two terrorists were killed by security forces and Four Soldiers of Rashtriya Rifles lost their lives in the ongoing encounter.
A civilian who was injured critically during the encounter on Monday wee hours, succumbed to injuries, even as a fresh exchange of gunfight was reported at the site of gunfight after a several hours lull at Pingleena area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police officer told News Agencies that a civilian Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat (46) suffered critical injuries during the exchange of gunfight succumbed to injurie. The officer also confirmed that the fresh exchange of gunfight resumed after more than three hours lull at the encounter site. He said that the operation is still going on in the area.
Four armymen including a major died and another was injured during the initial exchange of fire.
The gunfight broke out today morning after a joint team of army’s 55 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation following a “credible inputs” about the presence of two to three militants in the area. Four armymen including an officer were killed and a soldier was injured in a gunfight at Pinglena area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
Reports reaching News agencies said that a joint team of army’s 55 RR, CRPF and SOG launched a cordon wee hours today.
A police offcial told NEWS AGENCIES that the cordon was laid in the area following credible inputs about the presence of some militants. As the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the militants opened fire triggering off a gunfight, he said. During the course of gunfight, four army soldiers including a Major were killed. The officer identified the slain soldiers as Major DS Dondial, Head Constable Seva Ram, Sepoy Ajay Kumar and Sepoy Hari Singh.
“The critically injured armyman has been identified as Sepoy Gulzar Mohd who has been evacuated to army’s 92 base hospital Badamibagh Srinagar for treatment”.
When reports last came in, the searches were going on in the area to trace out the militants.
