Pakistan snubbed again, US maintains Kashmir is a bilateral issue

Pakistan is becoming increasingly isolated on the Kashmir issue. Now even the United States has snubbed Pakistan’s attempt to escalate Kashmir on an international level.

The US has now reaffirmed it’s position that Kashmir remains a bilateral issue.

Today, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a telephonic conversation with his US counterpart Mark Esper.

In an introductory call, the duo had a conversation on Article 370 and Jammu and Kashmir. Rajnath Singh told the US Defence Secretary that Kashmir is an internal matter and a sovereign issue.

Sources say that Mark Esper agreed with India’s stand and reiterated Washington’s position that Kashmir is a bilateral issue.

Both sides also discussed deepening of defence ties under the Major Defence Partner Framework (MDP).

The conversation came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked with US President Donald Trump about regional security.
