In Bihar, the last date for procurement of paddy has been extended from January 31 to February 21. The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He said farmers had requested to extend the last date for procurement.
The state government has set a target to buy 45 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from farmers.
Till date, 21 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured. Three thousand one hundred 37 crore rupees have been paid to farmers for procurement of paddy.
The Chief Minister has instructed DMs to visit and meet farmers to assess ground reality about procurement.
