An allocation of ₹11,000 crore was made under JJM in the Union budget for FY22. The aim is to supply water to 4,378 urban local bodies with 26.8 million tap connections.
The government has now approved ₹465 crore for seven states which include Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. States/ UTs are now competing with each other and focusing on the target to ensure that every household in the country gets safe drinking water so that no one is left out.
Potable water supply to water quality-affected habitations is a top priority under JJM
