The Ministry of Home Affairs has assigned the Pulwama terror attack case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) with immediate effect.
The order reached the NIA headquarters on Tuesday evening. The NIA would file an FIR on Wednesday, according to sources.
An NIA team of more than 10 officers, led by an officer of inspector-general rank, had been camping in Kashmir since Friday. This team was helping the Jammu and Kashmir police that was investigating the case.
The NIA and police have been investigating the suspects from Pulwama and Awantipora, to find out whether they had provided logistical support to the terrorist attack that killed more than 40 CRPF soldiers on 14 February.
