Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi today highlighted that Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) in silver jewellery hallmarking marks a significant step forward in strengthening purity assurance and eliminating fake hallmarking practices.
In a social media post, Mr Joshi said that under the HUID system, over seventeen lakh articles have already been hallmarked, driving greater transparency, accountability and confidence among consumers and stakeholders. He added that with HUID mandatory on voluntarily Bureau of Indian Standards hallmarked Silver articles, each piece carries a unique 6-digit identification code that enables complete digital traceability and enhanced consumer protection.
