Tamil Nadu govt to release a disaster relief fund to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic

An excellent move by the govt of Tamil Nadu. To provide necessary financial support to the needy. The relief measures, announced by the Chief Minister Edpadi Palanisamy a few minutes ago, is being widely appreciated. CM Of Tamil Nadu has announced a 3000 crore Corona Relief package.  All ration card holders will have Rs 1000 as relief. The supply for the month of April of Rice, oil, dal and sugar to be given free to eligible Ration Card holders.

All pavement vendors are to receive Rs 1000 as compensation. Workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act will get 2 days’ wages extra. Construction labourers and auto drivers to get Rs 1000, 15 kg rice, 1 kg dal and 1kg oil. Identified migrant labourers to get a similar food relief.  A token system has been introduced to manage the disbursement. All the above cash relief will be given on designated days and time slots at Ration Shops.

Community Kitchens have been set up for the destitute, elderly or those with no to support, or those who suffer from immobility. Fresh food will be delivered at their doorsteps free of cost till normalcy returns. Hot Hygienic food will be available at Amma Canteen.
