Largest ever Science Film Festival in the City of Kolkata, the Mecca of Science

INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL OF INDIA (ISFFI)

Satyaiit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, Dept of Science & Technology, Govt of India is organizing 5… International Science Film Festival of India (ISFFI) from 6 8 November, 2019 at the four auditoriums of SRFTI campus, Kolkata called as the Mecca of Science. ISFFI seeks to promote science popularization among citizens and aims at attracting talented young filmmakers and science enthusiasts. The ISFFI offers an opportunity for students and other participants to get involved with the process and improve their understanding of various feats in science and technology.

There are 200 entries of films to be screened from different parts of the world including India.

Internationally acclaimed and award winning foreign and Indian films on science, health and environment will be screened during the festival. A competition for indian independent and student filmmakers will be organized on the theme ‘Research, Innovation & Science Empowering Nation’. Filmmakers will be felicitated with IISF Science Film Awards. Two feature films, ’Mission Mangal’ and ’Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ will be screened. There will be a special screening of films on ’1“ Indian Scientific South Pole Expedition in 2009’ followed by discussion with scientists. A day-long Symposium titled ‘Packaging of Science for Public Interest’ and panel discussion on various aspects of cinema and science communication will also be the part of the ISFFI.

Several eminent personalities and filmmakers from India and abroad like Buddhadeb Dasgupta, R. Balki, A. K. Bir, Kaushik Ganguly, Piere Oliver Francois, Abhishek Sharma, Partha Ghose, Rama Marinov Cohen, Bikash Sinha, Kornetzky Brigitte Ute, Andreas Van De Lar, Kartik Sharma, Chris Godwin, Li-Yu-Fu, Lovital R Morang will be present during the festival.

The festival is internationally partnered with High Commission of Canada, Millennium Institute of Oceanography Chile, Embassy of Denmark, Embassy of Israel, Science Foundation Ireland, Media Service Nepal, Embassy of Spain, Embassy of Sweden and different organizations from Switzerland, Germany, UK, USA and Taiwan.
