Lt Governor of Ladakh RK Mathur announced ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh to kin of martyred Company Leader Nyima Tenzin from the Special Frontier Force (SFF) from LG Relief Fund.
Nyima was martyred in an anti-personnel mine blast during an operation on the south bank of Pangong Lake along the LAC in the last week of August.
The Tibetan-origin officer sacrificed his life during a pre-emptive operation to foil a fresh move by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army to transgress into Indian territory.
Braveheart laid to rest on September 7
The Indian Army successfully thwarted an attempt by the Chinese Army to transgress into Indian areas near the southern bank of Pangong Tso near Chushul in Ladakh on the intervening night of August 29-30 and occupied the height on the southern bank of Pangong Tso.
“On the night of August 29-30, People’s Liberation Army troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in Eastern Ladakh and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo,” said Army spokesperson Colonel Aman Anand in a statement.
During the operation, another junior soldier Tenzin Loden, 24, was critically injured in the same explosion and is currently undergoing treatment at the military hospital in Ladakh. The injured Tenzin Loden is from the same settlement, reported IANS.
BJP’s Ram Madhav also attended the funeral
Senior BJP leader Ram Madhav also attended the SFF hero’s funeral sending a strong signal to China as the braveheart was killed during an operation on the south bank of Pangong Lake.
He was laid to rest at Leh with full military honours amid chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, “Jai Tibet” and “Vikas Regiment Zindabad”.
The SFF, an all-Tibetan armed unit, was formed to stop the Chinese PLA’s regular intrusion into the Indian territory after India suffered a humiliating defeat in the 1962 war.
