In Kashmir Valley, the Railways has resumed Banihal-Baramulla train service from today. The service remained suspended for eleven months owing to Covid-19 pandemic. Only two trains, one from Baramulla to Banihal and another from Banihal to Baramulla, have been allowed to run for the time being. The passengers have been asked to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 preventive protocols and no one is allowed to board the train without a facemask.
Earlier, while talking to AIR News, Chief Area Manager, Northern Railways, Srinagar, had asked the public to avoid unnecessary boarding and also maintain social distancing while travelling in the trains. He had said that more trains will be allowed to run once the Covid-19 related situation normalises.
Rail services were suspended on March 19, 2020 as Covid-19 cases witnessed surge across the Valley.
