India will host the 12th BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting in Hyderabad from today. The two-day meeting will bring together labour and employment ministers and senior officials from BRICS member countries under India’s BRICS chairship theme, Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will chair the meeting. The ministers will deliberate on four priority areas, including advancing social security and formalisation of labour markets and enhancing women’s participation and inclusion in the workforce. The meeting will also consider and adopt a draft declaration prepared by the Employment Working Group. It aims to strengthen cooperation among BRICS countries on labour market policies, worker welfare, skills development and inclusive employment, while promoting resilient and sustainable growth in the changing world of work.
