India Expresses Concern Over Air Strike On Iranian Embassy In Syria, Asks Israel To Ensure Safety Of Indians

India has expressed concern over the Israeli attack on Iran’s embassy complex in Syria’s capital Damascus on April 1. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in the weekly press conference on Thursday that India is angry over the deteriorating security situation in West Asia. This may increase violence and instability in the area. All concerned parties must follow international rules and regulations.

Several commanders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard were killed in the recent attack. Concern in this regard was expressed in a meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

On the question related to the visit of US Finance Department officials to India in connection with purchasing crude oil from Russia, the spokesperson said that India takes commercial decisions based on its energy requirement. “Wherever cheap oil is available in the market, it is purchased.”

It is noteworthy that America and western countries have been pressurizing India to reduce the purchase of crude oil from Russia. In this connection, restrictive measures have been taken to keep the price of crude oil from Russia low. These countries now want to further tighten this price cap.

On a question about relations with Russia, the spokesperson said that India had condemned the terrorist attack in Moscow. India attaches great importance to its strategic relations with Russia.

The spokesperson said, India also gives top priority to the safety of Indians sent to Israel under the G2G agreement. In this context, India has requested the Israeli authorities to take care of their safety and well-being.

Jaiswal said that currently, 18,000 Indians are working. Their security is India’s top priority. The first team has gone to Israel under the G2G agreement. “Their safety is important for us. We have urged the Israeli authorities to do their best to take care of their safety and well-being.”

It is noteworthy that under the agreement signed at the government level, Indian citizens are being sent to Israel for skilled work. They participate in the construction work happening there.

Regarding the Indians trapped in the Taiwan earthquake, the spokesperson said that the Indian Mission was unable to contact two people but now they have been contacted and they are safe. (HS)
