The Indian Coast Guard- ICG Ship Amulya, the third vessel of the new-generation Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessels, was commissioned at Goa today. Defence Ministry informed that built indigenously by Goa Shipyard Limited- GSL, the 51-metre-long vessel has more than 60% indigenous components. It said that this reflects India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.
The ship has been named Amulya, meaning priceless, symbolising the Coast Guard’s commitment to safe, secure and clean seas. The vessel is powered by two 3,000-kilowatt diesel engines, enabling a top speed of 27 knots and an operational range of 1,500 nautical miles. It is equipped with advanced systems, including controllable pitch propellers, modern gearboxes, a 30-millimetre main gun, two remote-controlled 12.7-millimetre guns, and integrated control and surveillance systems. Indian Coast Guard Ship Amulya will carry out coastal surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue, anti-smuggling, and pollution response operations along the eastern coast.
