Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the flood-hit Belagavi and Bagalkote today in Karnataka. She interacted with the officials and sought information on the rescue and relief measures initiated and losses incurred due to the calamity. She also interacted with displaced people taking shelter in the relief camps.
The State Government has deputed six senior IAS officers today to the districts affected by the calamity, to monitor the rescue and relief measures.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi touring rain-affected areas in Dharwad district has informed that Centre has released 200 crore rupees to the state disaster relief fund. Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy visited flood-hit Belagavi district today.
After interacting with the displaced in the relief camps, he said, Chief Minister should call the Opposition leaders for a meeting to discuss the flood situation. He also hoped that the Central Government will release sufficient funds to meet the needs of people affected by the calamity.
