First ODI Between India And Hosts Sri Lanka Ends In A Thrilling Tie In Colombo

In Cricket, the first One Day International match between India and Hosts Sri Lanka ended in a thrilling tie at R Premadasa stadium in Colombo last night. Chasing a victory target of 231, India lost all the wickets to level the score in 47.5 overs. Skipper Rohit Sharma with 58 runs off 47 balls, Axar Patel with 33 off 57 balls and KL Rahul with 31 off 43 balls were the top scorers for India. Wanindu Hasaranga and Charith Asalanka picked up three wickets each for the hosts. Earlier, opting to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka posted 230 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Dunith Wellalage remained not out, scoring a blistering 67 off 65 while Pathum Nissanka made 56 off 75 balls. Arshdeep Singh and Axar scalped two wickets each for India. Dunith Wellalage was adjudged player of the match for his all-around performance. The second ODI of the three-match series will be held in Colombo tomorrow.
