Ex-PM Manmohan Singh urges India to avoid war

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s predecessor, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, talked about the cross-border tension between India and Pakistan. He hoped there would be no war.

He hoped that India and Pakistan would resolve all their problems.

Manmohan Singh’s comments came in about a day after Indian Air Force fighter planes bombed terrorist camps in Pakistan. The biggest camp upon which India dropped bombs was of the terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed in Balakot.

On Wednesday, Pakistani fighter jets violated Indian air space, resulting in the IAF shooting downn a Pakistani F-16 jet.

Manmohan Singh was speaking at an award ceremony in honour of former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao

Manmohan implied that both countries should focus on their basic problems: chronic poverty.
