In Bihar, deployment of security forces has been started for the First Phase of State Assembly elections. The polling would be held in 71 Assembly constituencies spread over 16 districts on 28th of October.
In the First Phase, polling would be held mostly in naxal affected areas. The Central Paramilitary forces have started area domination and Flag March in these segments to instill confidence in voters. Search operation is underway in Naxal areas bordering neighbouring state Jharkhand.
A joint operation was also launched with Bihar and Jharkhand Police. A huge cache of 40 kilograms explosives were unearthed by security personnel under Jhajha Police Station area in Jamui district.
After the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into force, Static Surveillance Teams and Flying Squads have escalated their vigil. So far an amount of 9.19 crore rupees in cash has been seized by different agencies. In all, 1,604 Check Posts are functional to track the movement of vehicles in the state.
So far 67 Expenditure Observers have been deployed to monitor poll expenditure of candidates and prevent the misuse of black money. In addition, 134 General Observers and 37 Police Observers have been appointed for polls.
