In badminton, India’s Subhankar Dey and P.V.Sindhu advanced to the second round of BWF French Open Super 750 tournament in Paris today. Subhankar beat Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto 15-21, 21-14,21-17 in the men’s singles first round.
P.V. Sindhu defeated Canada’s Michelli Li 21-15, 21-13 in the women’s singles first round. Among other Indians, Sameer Verma, Parupalli Kashyap and Kidambi Srikanth will be in men’s singles action tomorrow. Saina Nehwal will also get her campaign underway today.
In women’s doubles, the pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy is in the fray. The men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty and the duo of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy will also participate in the tournament.
In mixed doubles, the duo of Satwiksairaj and Ashwini are in the fray. Their doubles matches are slated for today.
