BJP demands EC to conduct independent inquiry into Nandigram incident

BJP has demanded Election Commission to conduct an independent inquiry into the Nandigram incident in which West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suffered injuries.

A party delegation today met the Commission in New Delhi over the issue. Talking to reporters after the meeting, BJP General  Secretary  Bhupender Yadav said his party has also urged the Poll body to make public the raw footage of that day when the TMC chief was there to file her nomination for assembly elections.

Mr. Yadav wondered how such an incident happened when it was a TMC event and Ms Banerjee was there with her driver and security guards. The BJP leader said the party once again demanded the Commission to remove TMC leaders who are still heading civic bodies in West Bengal despite their term ending a year back.
