Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Launches Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana

In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today kicked off Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a new scheme aimed at providing employment opportunities for women. The Chief Minister also flagged off several publicity vans to popularize the Yojana and launched the portal of the scheme.

Under this scheme, one woman from every family in the state will be provided financial assistance to start a business of her choice. As the first installment of financial support, each selected woman will receive 10,000 rupees via DBT to start her chosen employment activity. The Rural Development Department will be the nodal agency for this scheme and Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society, Jeevika will execute it.

In the next phase, an assessment will be carried out six months after the commencement of employment, and if needed, additional support of up to 2 lakh rupees will be provided to the selected women beneficiary.

As part of the scheme, local markets or haat bazaars will be developed across villages and towns for the sale of products made by women.
