Bengaluru RTO officials penalise two-wheeler taxis

In a drive against bike taxis, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) authorities in Bengaluru have seized nearly 500 bike (two-wheeler) taxis that various mobile app-based aggregators such as Ola and Rapido were using.

The RTO started this drive a week ago and have seized the two-wheelers from including Koramangala, Indiranagar, Jayanagar, Yeshwantpur and Krishnarajapura.

An RTO official has said that department had not given permission for the bike taxis and that they are not supposed to operate bike taxis without their notice. The RTO official has added that authority has sent different RTO teams to different localities to investigate the seized vehicles.

The RTO has also been seizing vehicles with white number plates being used for commercial purposes.
