Ayodhya airport development to be completed by Sept 2023: Ministry of Civil Aviation

Construction of the much-awaited Ayodhya Airport will be completed by September this year, announced the civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in a tweet.

The Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, located 8 kms from the upcoming Ram temple, is being developed at a cost of Rs. 350 crore. The airport will blend modernity with tradition and the design of the premises is such that it will be able to accommodate up to 300 passengers during peak hours. Additionally, with an annual capacity to handle over 6 Lakh passengers, this terminal will not be an ordinary structure. This will be done under phase-1 of the project, which is expected to be completed by August 2023

Spread over an area of about 6,250 sq meter, the terminal building, depicting a grand Ram Mandir, will offer spiritual experience to the travelers, the civil aviation minister had stated in one of his tweets. The minister had further conveyed that the airport will also depict the story of the life of Lord Rama, opening new doors of regional prosperity through religious tourism.

According to the proposed plan, the terminal’s roof is likely to feature decorative columns that will display significant events from the story of Ramayana through pictorial representations. To enhance the grandeur of the structure, Shikharas, which are dome-like structures of different heights, will too be adorned on the roof of the premises. The glass facade of the terminal will also be designed to recreate an experience of being in the very palace of Ayodhya. Thus, the airport will stand out both aesthetically and functionally, representing a perfect blend of both local as well as modern architecture.
