Tech giant Apple on Tuesday announced an array of new hardware and some software at a virtual launch event. But, unlike every year, this time around the new iPhones were missing in the show and instead, the next-generation iPad Air and new Apple Watches took the centre stage.
We witnessed the launch of Apple Watch Series 6, the new Apple Watch SE, a redesigned iPad Air, the powerful A14 Bionic chipset, Fitness+ app, among others. Here’s everything you need to know.
Apple Event 2020 announcements
iPad Air 4th gen and 8th gen: The 4th generation iPad Air is priced at Rs 54,900 for the Wi-Fi only 64GB model and Rs 66,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular 256GB variant while the 8th gen iPad Air costs Rs 29,900 for the Wi-Fi 32GB model and Rs 41,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular 128GB version.

Apple Watch Series 6: This next Apple Watch brings the much-anticipated Blood Oxygen sensor and WatchOS 7. Its GPS model is priced at Rs 40,900 and the GPS + Cellular variant costs Rs 49,990.

Apple Watch SE: This is the company’s new affordable smartwatch, which will retail at Rs 29,900 for the GPS only model and Rs 33,900 for the GPS+cellular variant.

iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and watchOS 7 release date: Apple also announced that the latest iOS 14, iPadOS 14, WatchOS 7, and tvOS 14 will be rolled out to compatible devices starting September 16.
A14 Bionic chipset: This newprocessor powers the iPad Air – the first 5-nanometer chip in the industry. It delivers 30 per cent increase in graphics with its 6-core architecture and a 4-core GPU.

Apple One: It brings a host of services like Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Cloud, Apple Arcade, News+ and Fitness+. The service starts at $14.95 for an individual and $19.95 for family.

Apple Fitness+ app: This is a new service for Apple Watch users that will offer video workout with music from trainers. It is free for only three months and is priced at $9.99 per month and $79.99 for the whole year, family included.
