Vodafone Idea, which is also known as Vi, has emerged as the fastest mobile network in India as far as the 4G speeds in the third quarter of 2020 are concerned.
As per a report by Ookla, Vi offered a download speed of 13.74Mbps and an upload speed of 6.19Mbps to its subscribers in India, which was the highest in the third quarter of the year. It was followed by Bharti Airtel on the second spot and Reliance Jio on the third spot. While Airtel offered download and upload speeds of 13.58Mbps and 4.15Mbps respectively, Jio offered download and upload speeds of 9.71Mbps and 3.41Mbps respectively.
Interestingly, while Vi offered the fast 4G mobile data service in the country, it was Reliance Jio that took the crown for offering the highest 4G availability in the country. Jio had the highest 4G Availability among top providers in India at 99.7% during Q3 2020. Airtel followed Jio closely with 4G available in 98.7% of tested locations during the same period. Vi India was third at 91.1%, the report noted.
Coming to the variation in the availability of mobile speeds, Hyderabad recorded the highest mobile network speed in India with an average download speed of 14.35Mbps and an average upload speed of 4.42Mbps. Hyderabad was followed by Mumbai with average download speed of 13.55Mbps and an average upload speed of 3.75Mbps. Visakhapatnam stood third offering an average download speed of 13.40Mbps and an average upload speed of 5.16Mbps. New Delhi, on the other hand, stood on the sixth spot by offering an average download speed of 13.04Mbps and an average upload speed of 3.37Mbps.
